On Eagles’ Wings: Our Jewish American Story

As we prepare to welcome 5787, I am looking forward to gathering with you for Erev Rosh Hashanah and beginning a year devoted to honoring 250 years of Jewish life in America.
Throughout the High Holy Days, our sermons, music, learning, and storytelling will explore the many ways Jews have shaped America—and the ways America has shaped us. We will celebrate the courage,
creativity, resilience, and diversity of our Jewish American community while also asking what our tradition calls us to build in the years ahead.
When you arrive, add your family’s journey to our community map. Where did your Jewish American story begin? Where has it taken you? During the coming year, our “My Jewish American Story” project will invite everyone at Kol Ami to share stories of family, migration, identity, belonging, and becoming. Our young people will also explore American Jewish history and discover their own place within its unfolding story.
Alden Solovy invites us:
“Let us dream wildly unimaginable blessings…
That their very existence uplifts our vision of creation.”
May this New Year lift our vision-helping us honor the stories that brought us here and imagine the blessings we might create together.
I cannot wait to welcome the New Year with you.
L’shanah tovah u’metukah-may 5787 be a good and sweet year!
Rabbi Yo
