Navigating Fear and Hope: A Series of Gathering for Listening, Anchoring & New Ways of Coping
Join Jewish Family Service and Congregation Beth Shalom for a listening and coping group on the four Monday nights listed below from 6:30–7:45 PM. Come to some or all of these meetings. The meetings will be facilitated by Steve Katz. Steve is a clinical psychologist
currently in private practice, who provided mental health services in a number of Seattle Jewish organizations (Seattle Hebrew Academy, Temple De Hirsch Sinai and JFS). He is an experienced group facilitator who has led similarly supportive and inclusive groups
at Congregation Beth Shalom following the events of October 7. Other experienced mental health professionals who have facilitated previous groups, may also participate.
Each session will first turn to wisdom from Jewish tradition to ground us. This will be followed by open discussions where you can comfortably voice your experiences, challenges, and the practices that keep you anchored in the face of current events. Together,
we’ll explore emotional and spiritual resources that help us navigate challenges-- especially those regarding Israel and being Jewish now-- with resilience. Come as you are—ideally learn a new way or two to self-soothe, find strength in community, and be a
source of strength to loved ones.
The dates of the group:
May 5: Zoom
May 19: Hybrid (in-person and Zoom option)
June 9: Zoom
June 30: Hybrid (in-person and Zoom option)
If you'd like to join the hybrid meetings in-person, they will be held in the Beit Midrash at Congregation Beth Shalom 6800 35th Avenue N.E. Seattle, WA. You must register ahead of time at this link to join. If you plan to join by zoom link, the link will be provided after registering
