The Kol Ami Temple Youth (KATY) group provides an opportunity for our post-b'nai mitzvah teenagers to gather together and participate in fun and worthwhile events and activities that reflect and reinforce their sense of Jewish identity. KATY is affiliated with NFTY, the North American Federation of Temple Youth.

The Kol Ami Temple Youth is already in full swing. Their kickoff event was a Beach Party at the begining of September, reestablishing friendships and and making new ones.
This past weekend, our board members; Shoshana Glickman, Anika Goldner, Sarah Horne, Zach Simon, and Jessica Howard, went to the Leadership Training Institute, which was sponcered by NFTY, the Reform Movement's National Foundation of Temple Youth, to which we are affilliated. The event was held at Camp Kalsman where each board member received training from their regional board counterparts on how to organize and run a sucessful Temple Youth Group. (Just so you know, two members of the regional board came from KATY, Jacob Glickman, regional president and Seth Halleran, regional membership vice- president.) Also at this event, KATY's board participated in the regional business meeting, called Asefa, along with the boards from Beth Am, B'nai Torah, Temple DeHirsch, Beth Or in Everett, Congregation Beth Israel in Bellingham, and Temple Shalom in Vancouver, BC. As you might imagine, it was really quite impressive to see them in formal action, Robert's rules and everything!
But, of course, it was not all work and no play. They had games and mixers, rauchous song sessions, awsome services, costumes at one point, and, of course, late night fun in the cabins. The end result was exhausted kids and tons of ideas to make KATY an awsome TYG.
We look forward to having a great year with something for all of Kol Ami's teens to get excitied about. Next up will be our Halloween event. Watch for us in the e-news!
